The world is facing huge environmental and social challenges and this trend has particularly intensified in the last few years. In the good times – the majority of people and companies tend to take many things for granted and social responsibility rarely comes top of their priorities’ list. In times of economic hardship and intensifying financial crisis, understandably these same people and companies tend to put social responsibility even further down their “To-Do Lists”.
We, at REWEL.NET, are different. We passionately believe in personal & corporate social responsibility and charitable giving. Not only do we believe and practice it, but we also try very hard to persuade others to follow suit. We will aim not only to give a set proportion of our revenues to good causes, but we will also do our best to encourage charitable giving by our friends, relatives, customers and clients.
Many companies have adopted Corporate Responsibility Policies, which are essentially about how to take account of their economic, social and environmental impacts – maximizing the benefits and minimizing the downsides. We don’t look at it this way. Our impact on the environment is minimal: we have a paperless office policy, we do not use sweat-shops to manufacture goods (because we do not manufacture any), we do not travel in private jets, nor do we drive gas-guzzling cars to work. Therefore, if we were to off set the negative impact on the society or the environment – there would be very little to off set.
However, to us Corporate Responsibility is about supporting worthwhile causes, no matter how harmful or useful you are to your community. We strive for perfection, we yearn for challenges and are always prepared to go the extra mile. We will go a step further than any of our competitors by publicly committing to give 10% of all our revenues to good causes.
A business as diverse and international as REWEL.NET will inevitably have different social and charitable priorities in every country it operates in, therefore the most reasonable thing to do is for revenues received from a certain country to go to good causes in this country.
We will keep you posted!
